In the stands, spectators experienced a range of emotions as they watched their teams teeter between scoring and conceding. At the 32-minute mark, Chippenham's Matt Mcclure made an intelligent run behind his defenders, and was rewarded with a lovely ball over the top. Mcclure took his first touch around the keeper and slotted the ball into an open net, marking the game's first goal. Chippenham capitalized on the momentum and continued to apply pressure.

Chippenham Keeper Will Henry, remaining focused, denied a one-on-one effort from Ibby Akanbi, keeping the teams level before the halftime whistle.

Entering the second half, St Albans looked the stronger side, enjoying the majority of possession and posing a greater scoring threat. Despite losing control, Chippenham mustered opportunities to regain the lead, but none were converted. At the 75-minute mark, St Albans substitute George Morall received the ball on his right foot. Slightly off balance, he managed to strike it into the top right corner, well out of the keeper's reach. St Albans who conceded the first goal, where now ahead 2-1 with the match coming to an end.
