On Tuesday night, Burgess Hill faced Little Common in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup. The match took place at Burgess Hill's HomeCall Carpets Community Stadium. Dean Cox's Burgess Hill side was eager to secure their first victory of the month.

The match kicked off, and Burgess Hill aimed to establish their dominance early. Burgess Hill’s Marcel Powell made a forceful dribble into the midfield, delivering a lovely through ball to Dan Perry. However, Perry's attempt fell wide of the far post. A Burgess Hill corner from Martyn Box was headed onto the crossbar and returned into play. Nic D'Arienzo controlled the ball and laid it off to Martyn Box, who was still out wide. Despite his challenging position, Box struck the ball into the side netting, marking his first goal of the campaign. Burgess Hill were now up 1-0, giving them the mental advantage early on.

Later in the first half, a Burgess Hill corner kick clearance found its way to Darren Budd on the right, who returned a fantastic ball into the box. Mo Jammeh, unmarked at the back post, slotted the ball into the net, marking his first goal for Burgess Hill. The goal would prove to be significant as it doubled their lead to 2-0, giving Little Common a difficult task entering the second half.

The second half opened with an early glimpse of action. Burgess Hill’s Martyn Box, on the right side of the pitch, skillfully faked from his left foot to his right, cutting past his defender. Box then drove to the byline and cut a pass back to Marcel Powell at the top of the box. Powell took a great first touch past his opponent and finished into the bottom right corner, increasing the score to 3-0.

Little Common's night went from bad to worse when another Burgess Hill corner delivery seemed to result in an own goal, increasing the deficit to 4-0 . Later in the match, Joe Overy had an opportunity to get on the scoresheet. Overy received the ball on the left side and skillfully slipped it through his marker's legs before taking a shot. The keeper parried the initial attempt, providing Joe with a second opportunity, but the keeper executed an impressive double save. The final score was 4-0, ensuring Burgess Hill's progression into the third round of the Sussex Senior Cup.
